Why our models are AI-generated

Let's get this out of the way first: the women in our images don't exist. They're AI-generated. We'd rather tell you ourselves than have you figure it out.

Now the why.

She Shapes exists because fashion is built around one body type. The modelling industry is built around that exact same one. Finding a model with a fuller bust is hard. Finding several — different cup sizes, different proportions, different skin tones — as a brand with four pieces and no campaign budget? Harder.

We could have shot one woman and called it representation. That felt like the bigger contradiction.

So we work with Digital Muse, a studio for hyperrealistic AI visuals. Our digital models are built from real body measurements — the same ones our modular sizing is based on. Not from any real person's face or likeness.

And hyperrealistic doesn't mean flawless. Look closely: skin texture, folds, asymmetry, a bra strap sitting where bra straps actually sit. AI could hand us a “perfect” woman in four seconds. We're using it for the opposite reason — to show more versions of real, not another version of perfect.

Would we prefer to shoot every campaign with real women?
Sure.
And as She Shapes grows, we want to do exactly that.
But right now, doing so would mean compromising on the diversity of bodies we can represent. And for a brand built on the belief that fashion should adapt to women – not the other way around – that felt like the bigger contradiction.

So yes, we use AI.
To show more versions of real women, rather than creating another version of the “perfect” one.
We believe that inclusion shouldn't depend on which bodies the traditional fashion industry happens to have on its model roster.
And until we can represent that same diversity with real women, this is the choice we've consciously made.
